families’ ability to pay. Children’s Hospital & Research Center Oakland
has Northern California’s only designated Pediatric Trauma Center and the
largest pediatric Intensive Care Unit in California.

the top 10 federally funded pediatric research centers in the nation. Children’s
scientists strive for fundamental advances in basic and applied bio-medical
sciences. Our research is generally targeted towards curing pediatric disease;
much of it has important implications for people of all ages in areas such as
cancer, obesity, asthma, and cardiovascular disease and aging.
